Mitu gave me a CD with this terrific mix quite a while ago, and these days finally, I managed to upload it. Stylewise a bit dark, it’s more reflecting the Tokyo winter vibrations than the current summer vibe. Anyway, I just recently had a back-to-back session with Mitu at Atsumi’s wonderful beach-summercamp and all I can say is witness-the-fitness. So check him out at one of his gigs here in Tokyo.
Ladies (especially that one lady with that smile that makes the sun rise in the middle of night) and Gentlemen,
Please say Hi to the One Shot Orchestra. The three boys from somewhere between France, Germany and Switzerland are about to unleash their homebrewn typhoon to the world. We feel honoured proper to be hosting their first vinyl release, which is starting to be distributed these days. It is no overstatement to call their sound ground-breaking, forging a musical creature seemingly rooting from bands as diverse as The Meters, Dizzie Rascall and Simian Mobile Disco. Expect live performance of near perfect precision - with that edge of stage excess to drive the crowd into mania.
Puuuhh.. ok trying to give you some kind of music-journalist-style ecstatic review, but fortunately right here we are not limited to report in written on an accoustic medium. Rather suggest you to download and listen to the wonderfully eclectic demo mix by the ONE:shot:orchestra. It includes several of the tracks of the recent EP, playlist coming soon..
Regarding the record, please feel free to contact us or ONE:shot:orchestra to get your hands on the vinyl. By the way, if you are a Superstar DJ you might even get it for free :)
I guess I do not have to recite the terrible incidents that have recently happened in Myanmar aka Burma. It is maybe for the first time that through the internet and other media resources the rise and fall of a revolution - in a normally totally secluded environment like the country of Burma - has been made relatively transparent to the public, not only accessible through broadcasted public news but also ‘on-demand’ through independent blogs. Why is the focus on Burma? The people of Burma are in a situation that all of us are affraid of: They are being brutally oppressed by a corrupt government, have no freedom of speech, no way to influence who is ruling them. However by extending the peaceful demonstrations of the Burmese people across the country’s boundaries, it might be possible to raise more and more public attention and thus influence involved political forces to put pressure on the Burmese government. That is why it makes sense to especially care about this conflict in South-East Asia. At least a little bit we can try to help other people to achieve the ideals that we take for granted every day.
That is also the reason that inspired my beloved DJ team ‘Flohmarktdisko’ from Munich to do this mix. The mix is not thematically connected to the Burmese cause. However it spreads a vibe of freedom and peace, and in this way supports the message that is communicated by the demonstrations. Stylewise it is not purely electronic for a change, reaching from Funk to Reggae to Hip Hop to Drum’n'Bass to House and back. So you better be prepared!
We licensed this rocker from Ego Music in Italy. It’s massive stuff, played by Pete Tong in his Essential Selection. There is a couple of other mixes of the track in the pipeline so stay tuned. Everything is availible for licensing in the territories Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
Bobobobobobo!!! Have you ever heard of that new music style.. what was the name.. two step? no.. dub and bass? NO! ahja.. DUBSTEP. So I guess noone has heard of this rare London movement that is going to rule the soundsystems around the world. Ok, haha, dubstep is not that new and most people have heard or read about it anyway. But watch it! Most of the stuff is still kinda unexplored territory for many. Good thing we got our man Bedope coming all the way down from Berlin to Tokyo to give us this oldschool cassette of his latest dubhouse workout. By the way, check his radio show every Thursday at 21h CET on radio-utopie.de

Tootekool the main man behind Shanghai’s Micro parties coming up with a wonderful mix of recent minimal house bombs. Once upon a time in Shanghai Tootekool and his crew were some of the few people playing decent underground (or let’s say non happy / contemporary style) music in Shanghai. It proved to be not too easy to establish a party series that consequently propagates an independent approach to dance music. Expats as well as local people only slowly accepted the new influence on the city’s scene. However Micro has been going on for a few years and has firmly established itself, drawing more and more people every event. So if you ever come down to Shanghai don’t forget to check by one of the Mirco parties! You might come across Ben Huang or Micrometropolis at one of these too by the way ;)
How can a Berlin downtown mix be inspired by Bamboo Island (in Thailand, Mai Phai)? Der E-Kreisel machts möglich. Not quite the average tourist he barely got his set of bamboo furninshed Technics decks through Thai customs, checked the next ferry to rock the island. The legend has it that there was a speaker on every paltree. And believe me there are many palmtrees on Bamboo Island. What a soundsystem!
My friend Flava Flave aka Micrometropolis likes to count. Usually he counts to four, 1 2 3 4. The one might be dryly minimal, the two might be dead funky, the three could be super strange and for the four anything goes. Always up for a nice surprise of funky minimal tech house. Like this!
Ben Huang, in Shanghai people call him ‘The Godfather’ or simply ‘The Man’. He is rumored to be one of the leading figures in the Shanghainese underground scene. You better don’t mess with him or You might end up six feet under. Oioioi. His musical scale is huge, so the mix here is definitely a genre-breaker stretching from Vivaldi to Vienna Scientists, from Kompakt to Metalheadz. Regardless if you are interested in a sophisticated approach to mixing styles or just want to sit back and relax you should definitely get this one.
